Buchanan, 67 of Townsend, DE, passed away on May 9, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.Billy was born on August 9, 1949 in Marion, NC, son of the late Bill and Myrtle Freeman Buchanan. At the age of 3 his family moved to New Castle and for the past 40 years has lived in Townsend. Billy was a U.S. Army Veteran and also served in the Army Reserves. He worked as a maintenance foreman for Del Dot, Area 23 in Bear for 15 years. He enjoyed baseball, softball and spending time with his family.Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Waterfield.Billy is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Addison Buchanan; daughters, Susan Lynn Alexander (Eddie) of Riva, MD and Vicie Stilwell (Jeff) of Smyrna, DE; a brother Robert Allen Buchanan of Bear, DE; and grandchildren, Trey and William Alexander, J.T. and Kayle Turner, Annalyse, Brandon, Jessalyn and Josh Stilwell.Friends may call on Saturday, May 13 from 2 to 4 pm in Faries Funeral Home, 29 South Main St. Smyrna, DE, where a service will follow at 4 pm.Memorials may be offered to , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105 www.fariesfuneralhome.com
