Bernice RomanakBernice Romanak, of Talent, Oregon, passed away peacefully at Rogue Valley Medical Center surrounded by her loved ones on March 24, 2017, from complications after a stroke. She was born on September 15, 1943 in Wilmington, Delaware to John and Estelle (Kozicki) Romaniak. Her sister, Janet Bossert, preceded her in death. She grew up in Delaware and, after she married, moved around the country with her family, living in New Jersey, Texas, Colorado, and Illinois. Bernice had an associates degree in Interior Design and spent decades as a legal secretary. She lived most of her life in Delaware but ultimately moved out West to be close to her children and grandchildren.Bernice was a creative, generous and active woman who had many interests; gardening, volunteering, cooking, playing bridge, spending time with her grandchildren, and traveling to new places. Her passion for learning stayed strong throughout her life and she was even learning to speak French in her last years - c'est la vérité! She loved clothing and fashion and was always dressed with appreciable style, with nothing overlooked. Bernice had a great sense of humor and a unique perspective on the world. She said she never laughed so hard as she did in the months after her stroke, finding hilarity in the simple moments of life. This pure laughter brought so much happiness to her family and is now one of their fondest memories.Bernice is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Samae Chlebowski; her daughter and son-in-law, Lauren (Chlebowski) and Paul Lebel; her grandchildren Hazel Wren Chlebowski and Cedar Samuel Winter Chlebowski; her niece Stefanie Garbatowski; her nephew Steven Bossert; and many caring friends across the country. Private services will be held.
