Yanissa Mitchell, a beloved member of the Panama City community, passed away on September 1, 2026, just days shy of her 51st birthday. Born on September 8, 1975, she was a vibrant spirit whose presence lit up the lives of everyone around her. Yanissa was known for her warm smile, infectious laughter, and a heart full of love for her family and friends and her love for salsa.

Yanissa devoted her life to uplifting her neighborhood and contributing positively to her community. She was passionate about family being there for her people, helping countless people from her community in some of their trying times. Her commitment to nurturing young minds was evident in her innovative teaching methods and personal connections with them.

Yanissa’s love for cooking went beyond just wanting to feed everyone but the creative freedom it gave her. She believed that food was literally the molding glue to family friends and everything in between. Yanissa facilitated numerous communial gatherings to bring the community together.

Yanissa cherished her roles as a Mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin & godmother as she had about 10. She was known for her thoughtful gestures and the effort she put into spending quality time with her family. Gathering around the dining table for Sunday dinners and holidays was a cherished tradition in the Mitchell de Peralta household, where stories were shared, laughter flowed freely, and bonds were strengthened. Yanissa's home was a sanctuary filled with love, and it was the center of her extended family’s life.

Yanissa enjoyed carnival and celebrating Panama’s annual festivities with her friends and family.

Yanissa is survived by her devoted Mother Ulrica Merritt, her husband Nicolas Peralta her loving children Yahany Rivas, Melibeth Peralta, and Destiny Peralta her adoring nieces, nephews, godchildren , Sibilings , cousins, aunts and uncles who will forever remember her kindness and generosity. She leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and compassion that will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew her.

As we celebrate the life of Yanissa Mitchell, we remember her as a beacon of light in our lives. Her unwavering spirit and passion for life serve as an enduring reminder to cherish every moment and the people we hold dear. A memorial service will be held on September 10, 2026, at the church in Don Bosco Panama, where family and friends are invited to gather and share memories of Yanissa's remarkable life.
