With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Wilma Thompson, a beloved member of the Indianapolis community. Wilma was born on February 16, 1943, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to her loving parents Cecil and Luanne Oates. She peacefully departed from this world on June 7, 2023.
Wilma's life was centered around her family, and she was a devoted wife to Charles Thompson. The couple exchanged vows in 1967 and shared a profound love that stood the test of time. Together, they were blessed with four wonderful children: Ronald Thompson, Jamie Reed (married to Michael Reed), Cecil Thompson (married to Alma Thompson), and William Thompson (married to Janice Thompson). Wilma also had various grandchildren including Mark Brown, Teresa Brown, Kris Brown, Michael Reed, and Christopher Reed.
During her formative years, Wilma received her education at North Dallas High School, where she developed a thirst for knowledge. In 1961, she proudly graduated from the high school, setting the stage for her intellectual pursuits. Wilma's passion for learning led her to pursue further studies at the University of Louisville, where she sought to expand her horizons.
Wilma will forever be remembered for her resilience, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, always going above and beyond to care for those she held dear. Her gentle spirit and nurturing nature touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Wilma leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. While her loss is mourned by her family and friends, they find solace in knowing that her spirit will live on through the lives she touched.
