William C. LeavittLancaster: William C. Leavitt, 90, of Lancaster, passed away on October 28th, 2017 at the Pickering House. William was born on October 15th, 1927 in Reedy, WV to the late William Perry and Arneta Leavitt. He grew up in Dunbar, WV and graduated from Dunbar High School in 1945. William served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1947 where he served in the 9th Infantry Army Band. He retired from General Electric in Schenectady, NY after 37 years of service. He was also a 1950 graduate from the Ohio State University, and a member of the First United Methodist Church.William is survived by his children, Robert, Richard, Thomas and Patricia; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Louise Leavitt; and daughter Nancy.A Celebration of Life is to be held on Saturday, November 4th, 2017 at 11:30AM at the HALTEMAN-FETT & DYER FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Cheryl Foulk officiating. Friends may call from 10:30AM until the start of the service on Saturday. Burial is to follow the services at Maple Grove Cemetery.
