William GhormleyLenoir City, TNWilliam D. (Bill) Ghormley, of Lenoir City, passed away on February 12, 2017, at age 71. He was born on October 28, 1945 in Copperhill, TN. After graduating from Lenoir City High School in 1964, he attended Tennessee Wesleyan in Athens, TN and worked at Mayfield Dairy. It was in Athens where he met Suzanne Trent. They were married on January 23, 1965, in Knoxville at First Presbyterian Church. They moved from Athens to Lenoir City in early 1966 where Bill began working for ORGDP, K-25 Plant, and stayed there for 30+ years. After retirement from there, he worked for several years at the Loudon County Justice Center and the Fairfield Group. Bill had many varied interest, including woodworking and photography, and served the Lenoir City and Loudon County communities in many ways, including Lenoir City Rotary Club, The Lenoir City Bicentennial Celebration Committee, and Toys for Tots. He was preceded in death by parents, W. D. "Doc" Ghormley and Martha Ghormley; and son, Ashley Ghormley. Survived by wife, Suzanne Ghormley; daughter, Renee Ghormley; sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and David Eaker; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Patricia and Jim Efurd; nephews and nieces, Shannon and Shawni Eaker and children, Noah and Caden, Shelby and Brian Quinley and children, Hayes and Stella, Greg and Heidi Efurd and daughter, Eleanor, Tricia "Tee" Efurd; and special uncle, Tommy Williams of McCaysville, GA. The family will receive friends at Central United Methodist Church, Lenoir City, TN, on Saturday, February 18th, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a short service to follow at 4:30 p.m. Rev. Micah Nicolaus and Rev. Audrey Madigan will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be David Eaker, Shannon Eaker, Brian Quinley, Rene Bidez, Jeff Walker, Jerome Dobson, Phil Spicer, and Bob Littleton. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following the service at Aubrey's in Lenoir City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, UT Cancer Institute, East Tennessee Children's Hospital, or .
