Mathley, William "Bill" Eugene ,of Waxhaw, NC; formerly of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the age of 77 after an extended illness. He was born on September 17, 1940 in Chicago, IL to William and Evelyn Mathley. Bill was a 1958 graduate of Manual High School in Louisville. He enjoyed a long successful sales career with Georgia-Pacific. He was an original member of the Trendells, a hit doo-wop band in the late 50's and 60's. Bill was also a member of the Army National Guard.Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jacqueline (Jackie) Ann Mathley and children; Dana Delsignore (Bill) of Monroeville, PA; Lisa Schloeder (Scott) and TMCM/SS (USN Retired) Eric Mathley of Charlotte, NC. He was also blessed with eight grandchildren: Kate, Ben Nathaniel, Mark (Rachel), Matthew (Cassie), Courtney (Darrell), Dylan and Sarah (Joey) and three great-grandchildren: Sebastian, Jerrika, and Aidan. He is also survived by his siblings, Kenny Mathley, and Patricia Hodge of Louisville.He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings; Betty Davis, Bonnie Flannigan, Charles Mathley, Don Mathley as well as his mother-in-law, Mrs. Guylena Webb also known as Grandma Kentucky. The Trendells-John Hourgan, Joe Bergman, Bill Summit and Jimmy Settle; along with The Carnations remain a special part of his life.A small private family celebration will be held.
