William Edward Harding was born on July 19, 1921, in New Orleans, LA, to W. E. and Antoinette Harding and died on February 18, 2010. He graduated from LSU with degrees in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and earned an MBA from National University. His career encompassed working on the B-24 at Boeing; teaching Brazilian Air Cadets in Portuguese in Sao Paulo; and working for NASA. Upon moving to San Diego, he worked at Ryan Aeronautical on the Firebee and later moved to Logicon where he worked until his retirement. Bill served as president of the Friends of the La Jolla Library and chairman of the Book Sales Committee. He volunteered at the library twice a week for 15 years. He also was a Meals on Wheels volunteer. Bill is survived by his wife, Sandra; their children, James, Anne (Mark) Spitsbergen and Megan (Lawrence) Banks; and their six grandchildren. The family is especially grateful to Bill's compassionate caregivers, Burke and Wanda. Services will be held on March 5 at 10:30 am at All Hallows.
