This obituary is administered by:
Angell, William G.William (Bill) Greenleaf Angell, 88, of Naples, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 9th, 2016 with his wife Arline and a daughter at his side. Married 62 years, Bill and Arline's devotion to each other and their children was unparalleled. The Funeral service will be held at St Peter the Apostle Church, 5130 Rattlesnake Hammock Rd, Naples, FL 34113 on Monday October 24th at 10:00 a.m.Bill was born on March 29, 1928 in Seekonk, MA, as the youngest of four children of Lucius and Ruth Angell. Growing up in Sommerset, MA, he played basketball and led his team to the State Championship at the Boston Garden. He was also a great baseball player and was scouted by the NY Yankees. At 18 he joined the army and was stationed in Korea before the war. After his time in the Army, Bill met and married Arline Mary Mullaney (Daughter of Joseph and the Honorable Beatrice Hancock Mullaney) on June 26th 1954. He graduated Northeastern University in Boston, MA. He went on to work for Westinghouse and ultimately landed a job as the Chief Labor Negotiator for the General Electric Company moving his family to Easton, CT. He was with GE for 32 years. During his tenure as GE's Chief Labor Negotiator, he successfully negotiated six national contracts without a strike. An avid golfer, boater, and reader, He and Arline retired to Marco Island, and eventually Naples FL. In retirement he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. As successful as Bill was in business, his top priority was always his family. Bill was always bragging about his children to co-workers and even worked family stories into many of his speeches. He was known for being a huge fan of New England sports teams: the New England Patriots; The Celtics; and especially the Boston Red Sox. With a great sense of humor, Bill was always quick with a one-liner or a story.Bill can best be described as a hard working self-made family man, who loved to get a laugh, and whose strength and high moral standard set an example for all who knew him.* Bill is preceded in death by his father Lucius, his mother, Ruth, his siblings Ruth Baker, Bud Angell, and Anne Waring. Bill is survived by his wife, Arline and seven children: Lori Cramp (John), Ruth Reed (Phil), Ted Angell (Lisa), Cindy Vacaro (Joe), Jennifer Bohling (Brian), Katie Thomas (Richard), Matthew Angell (Debra). Also his 18 grandchildren: Jeffrey, Chelsea, Trevor, Danny, Megan, Kevin, Erin, Patrick, Alexa, Erica, Tony, Billy, Brooke, Lindsay, Shannon, Connor, Dylan, and Sean; and his six great-grandchildren: Declan, Lincoln, Graham, Agnes, Ethan and Ashlee.
