William “Bill” J. Beattie, Jr., 93, of Newark, DE passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 22, 2024 with his family by his side. Born in Whiteford, MD on July 14, 1930, he was the son of the late William Sr. and Catherine McGreevey Beattie.

Mr. Beattie, a proud veteran, served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from 1948 to 1952. After his military service, William embarked on a successful career with RCA/General Electric. He retired as a technician after many years of dedicated work. William found great happiness in spending time with his family, especially during their memorable trips to the Outer Banks, where they created lasting memories filled with love and laughter. 

Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Alice M. Stanton Beattie; children, William J. Beattie, III (Tim), and Denise E. Beattie; many grandchildren; sister, Georgianna Donlin; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Selina Kathleen Beattie; brother, Robert H. Beattie; and sisters, Marian Beattie Coleman, and Mary Helena Beattie.

Visitation only will be held from 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM, Friday, June 28, 2024 at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921. Graveside service with Military Honors will be held 11:45 AM in Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, Elkton, MD.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, or to the American Lung Association, in care of Hicks Home for Funerals, P.A. at the above address.
