Brey, WilbertWilbert Brey, age 97 formerly of Denmark, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 21, 1920 in Manitowoc to the late Michael and Anna (Gerl) Brey. In 1941 he enlisted and served his country in the United States Army as a Front Line Medic with the 44th Infantry Division. On June 30, 1948 Wilbert married Virginia Novitski at St. James, Cooperstown, and had recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. He was a member of the VFW Denmark, Past Commander and VFW Eighth District State Commander, member of the Military Order of the Cootie, the Farm Bureau, School Board of Mishicot and on the board of Lake to Lake, as well as other numerous boards and committees. Wilbert was a proud service member and farmer, farming for over 70 years as well at working fulltime for over 20 years with FS Larabee Feed Mill and on Sundays, he rested. He was loved and will be missed by his family.Wilbert is survived by his loving wife, Virginia, and their children; Wilbert Jr., Bernard , Sandra (Jack) Woodkey, Daniel (Julie), Jeffrey (Susan), Randy (Jeanne), David (Marlene), Brian (Jill), Cindy Hansen, Kevin (Atoya), Anthony (Patricia), Andrew (Lori), Todd (Fiancée Joan Hoogland), Joel (Sara) and Heidi (Mark) Dvorachek, grandchildren; Brenda, Tammy, Eric, Sheri, Staci (Brian), Tanya (Gilbert), Adam, Jeffery II, Joseph (Nicole), Sara, Sally, Sheila (Cale), Jeremiah (Stephanie), Ashley, Heidi (Ray), Daven, Shane, Kayla, Nathan, Nicole (Robbie), Graci, Daryth, Kyana, Danielle (Significant Other, Jordan) , Joshua, Tony Jr. (Significant Other, Kelsey), Patrick (Significant Other, Paige), Jordan, Christopher, Cierra, Kirsten, Connor (fiancée Shelby), Sydnie, Tanner, Kendall, Mackenzie and Lily, 41 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. He is further survived by his brother and sister; Norbert Brey and Laverne Wertel, brothers in law; Norb (Marlene) Novitski, Joseph (Bonnie) Novitski, sisters in law; Rita Kielar, Bernie (Harold) King, Judy Melichar, Mary (Stanley) Pochron and Theresa Johnson as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Preceding him in death are his parents, his brother Edwin (Florence), sisters in law, Clare Brey and Lillian Novitski, brothers in law, John Wertel, David (Grace) Novitski, Daniel Novitski, Rudy (Grace) Novitski, Joseph Kielar, Leo Melichar, Frankie Johnson, John Novitski and son in law, Dale Hansen.Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home-Denmark Chapel, 536 County R, Denmark, on Monday, July 31, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm. A prayer service will be held at 7:30pm Monday evening. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, at St. James Catholic Church, 18228 County Road R, Cooperstown, from 9:30am until 10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at11:00am on Tuesday, with the Rev. Tom Reynebeau officiating. Entombment in Knollwood Mausoleum, Manitowoc. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
