Wessie Jackson, 80, of Savannah, Georgia, passed on June 23, 2023. Wessie was born on October 04, 1942 in Waynesboro,Ga to Willie Gaines Sr. and Elizabeth Gaines. She was the oldest of 6 children.She was baptized and received Christ at an early age at St Mary’s Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev Lonnie Thomas. She was a faithful and dedicated member until her health prevented her from attending.Wessie attended school in the Chatham County Public School System where she earned her diploma from Richard Arnold High School. She also worked in the Chatham County School System as a custodian and retired from the school system after 30 years of service.Preceding her in death, both parents and sisters Janice Wade and Bertha Lewis.Wessie will forever be remembered by her loving children Michelle Ruffin, Kim Jackson, Gary Scott, Paul Scott, and Sammy Scott, siblings; Ann Horne, Richard Mathis, Gunnie Mathis, Clarence Mathis; grandchildren Kevin Scott, Keon Scott, Korey Scott, Jarmario Hazel, Takia Scott, Tawanna Mathis, Yolanda Scott, Ronnie Scott, Keith Manning, Ray Manning; 18 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and extended family and friends.
