Bender, Wayne D.Wayne D. Bender, 68 years old, of Mayville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls, WI.A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Kekoskee, with the Rev. Dennis Bratz officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 23rd from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville, and also on Friday, February 24th from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church. Burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery in Mayville, with graveside military rites conducted by the Mayville American Legion Post #69.Wayne was born on November 16, 1948 to Harland and Ethel (Schultz) Bender in Fond du Lac. He was united in marriage to Angelika Gebauer on December 12, 1972 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville. Wayne is retired from Gleason Reel Corp in Mayville.Wayne was a member of St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Kekoskee. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in both Korea and Vietnam from 1965 - 1973. He was a member of the Mayville American Legion Post #69. Wayne enjoyed woodworking, traveling, and car restoration.Wayne is survived by: his wife- Angelika of Mayville; his son Harland (Keri) Bender of Mayville; his step-mother Sue Ann Binder of Wisconsin Dells; his brothers- Lloyd (Helen) Bender of Grand Marsh, Gerald Bender of Grand Marsh, half-brothers- Gary (Diane) Binder of Wisconsin Dells, Gene Binder of Wisconsin Dells, Timothy (Connie) Binder of Wisconsin Dells, and Harlan (Sandy) Binder of Theresa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Wayne is preceded in death by: his parents; his step-father Orville Gensmer; sisters- Ellen Schaeffer, Carol Gensmer, Esther Hunter, Sharon Darge, and Sheila Williams; 1 brother- Richard Bender; half-brothers- Kenneth Binder and Bob Binder; as well as other relatives.Memorials may be directed to family choice.Koepsell Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Mayville is serving the family.
