Warren K. Hemphill of Yuma, AZ passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2011. He was born on August 14, 1926 to Willis and Norma Hemphill of Belleville, KS who preceded him in death. Warren graduated from high school in Salina, KS. In August of 1944 at the age of 18 he enlisted in the Army and went to basic training in Camp Hood, TX and later to parachute training in Ft. Benning, GA. He served in the occupation forces in Japan with the 127th Engineers of the 11th Airborne Division. Warren attended Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, KS upon returning from service. He married his first love Louis Peterson, and was employed by the State of California Highway Department. They retired to Arizona where his wife passed away. He loved to dance and it was there that he met and married his present wife, Pat Garoutte. Warren was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Richard Hemphill of Houston, TX. Warren leaves behind a sister, Helen L. Hemphill Kuhn; son, Bill Hemphill; daughter, Connie Hendley; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
