Wanda Dean Berkley SellersTulsa, OKOn March 28, 2017, Wanda Sellers passed from this life to her eternal home with the Lord Jesus after a short illness in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her funeral will be a graveside service at the Oak Wood Cemetery in Hamilton, Texas, on April 15 at 2PM. Her brother Clyde Berkley of Abilene will conduct the service and her sister Christine Garcia of Abilene will sing.Wanda was born on December 29, 1929, to Hubert and Virgie Berkley in Hamilton, Texas. She accepted the Lord as her savior when she was a child and served the Lord until the last of her life. Right after World War II, she met her future husband John Sellers, who hired her to work in the restaurant he opened after returning from the war. They married and began their long life together. Soon they moved to Abilene where John worked as an upholsterer for Waldrops' Furniture and then for himself in his business. Two children were born to them during this time, Gayle and Connie. They were members of Belmont Baptist Church. In the late 1950's John bought a business in Altus, OK, where they lived until he died in 2004. Wanda was the assistant manager for the Sears store in Altus for many years and active in First Baptist Church of Altus. She continued to live in Altus for several years after John's death but then moved to the Baptist Village in Owasso,OK to be closer to her daughters. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Owasso and participated in many activities at Baptist Village.Wanda was a positive, well-informed woman who loved her family and others. Thanksgiving Dinner at her house was a tradition for the Berkley families for many years. Her nieces and nephew always think of her in that context and appreciated her efforts to stay in touch with them. Her husband, daughters and grandchildren could always count on her support. She was their biggest fan.She was preceded in death by her husband John and her parents Hubert and Virgie Berkley. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands: Gayle and Bill Meyer of Tulsa, and Connie and Robert Duke of Piedmont, OK; by her grandchildren and spouses: Steve and Dorothy Higgs of Denver, CO; Heather and Shane Goldsby of Edmond, OK; Ryan and Miranda Higgs of Kansas City, MO; Ashley and Brad Wright of Ok City. She leaves five great-grandchildren: Jacob and Anna Higgs, Julia Higgs, Parker and Tyler Goldsby. She is also survived by her sister and husband Christine and Jess Garcia of Abilene, brother and wife Clyde and Ann Berkley of Abilene, sister Dortha Everitt of Cedar Park, TX, plus numerous nieces and nephews.Wanda donated regularly to the Adams Fund at the Owasso, OK Baptist Village, used to provide financial assistance to those at the Village who need it, and requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to this fund.
