Wallace Sylvester Burns Sr, was born on June 1, 1940, in Dyer, TN United States.

Wallace was the beloved son of Sylvester Burns (proceeded) and LaPearl Burns (proceeded). He was the eldest of his siblings, Sally Mae Burns and Jackie Burns, in whom he is also proceeded. Wallace grew up in Dyer, TN, where he also attended elementary, middle, and high school. Wallace also attended college, before making the decision to move to Indianapolis, IN, where he would meet his wife Patricia.

Wallace dedicated his life to serving his country in the United States Army. He was a dedicated soldier who served with honor and distinction.

Aside from his military service, Wallace was a dedicated employee of Allison's Automotive and had a passion for music and enjoyed playing the piano in his free time. He brought joy to those around him with his beautiful music.

Wallace Sylvester Burns departed this life on the morning of January 18, 2026, surrounded by love. Wallace will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion to his family and his country.

He is survived by his spouse, Patricia Burns, and their six children: Donald Williams (spouse Pamela Williams), Rhonda Burns, Shawn Smith (spouse Jeffrey Smith), Wallace Burns Jr, Dennis Burns (spouse Denita Burns), and Kimberly Ward (spouse Marco Ward Sr).

Wallace was also a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
