Rixen, Virginia "Virgie" M.Virginia "Virgie" M. Rixen, 89, of Fond du Lac, died on January 26, 2017, at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.She was born on November 4, 1927, in Judd, North Dakota, the daughter of the late John and Stella (Barnick) Vandeberghe. On February 11, 1946, she married Anthony Rixen in Richardton, North Dakota where they resided until 1959. From 1959 to 1971 the couple made their home in the state of Oregon. Anthony preceded her in death on June 9, 1998. Virginia and Anthony owned and operated restaurants in Wisconsin and North Dakota. She was employed as a Food Service Supervisor at Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mt. Calvary from 1971 to 1978 and assisted at JRP and Corrente Automotive. She was a member of Lighthouse Christian Church. During her free time she enjoyed crafts, knitting and sewing.Survivors include seven children, Sharon (Billy Belanger) Rixen of Portland, Oregon, Shirlene (Mike) Hennessy of Sherwood, Oregon, Antoinette (Jim) Schuh of Prineville, Oregon, Yvonne Braun of Lamartine, James Rixen of Sandy, Oregon, Marie (Francesco) Corrente of Fond du Lac and John Rixen of Simpsonville, South Carolina; 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, two brothers, five sisters, other relatives and friends.In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by her son, Vernon, her son-in-law Danny Braun and an infant granddaughter, Allissa.SERVICE: A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, 2017, at Grace Christian Church, 1596 4th St, Fond du Lac.
