Virginia Lee (Mills) Wilson, age 82, of Brookville, PA, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2016, as a resident of the Jefferson Manor in Brookville, PA. She was born on December 14, 1933, to the late John T. and Alma L. (Huffman) Mills, in Fairmount City, PA. On November 17, 1955, she married John J. Wilson in Winchester, VA; John preceded her in death on August 18, 2002. Virginia graduated from Summerville High School, class of 1952. She then went to Allegheny Valley Hospital School of Nursing and graduated class of 1955. She later graduated from Clarion College with a Baccalaureate of Science degree in 1976. Her education continued on after college and included many different Post Graduate classes. Virginia worked as a Registered Nurse and she had over 40 years employment with the Brookville Hospital. For over 5 years she worked as a traveling school nurse for many of the school districts surrounding Brookville. She also worked as an inspector for the Pennsylvania Health Department; throughout her years she held many volunteer positions and she was an active member of her community. Virginia  was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church and more recently she attended the Stanton United Methodist Church. She was also a member of, and served as a past president for, the Brookville Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, #983. She held memberships with the Brookville Firemans Club, and the Brookville Volunteer Fire Company as a social member and a ladies auxiliary member. She was a member of the Jefferson Manor Board of Directors for a time as well. Alongside Chip Wonderling and later Steve Hoak, she played the role of Mrs. Claus for the town of Brookville. She enjoyed knitting, reading, riding snow mobiles, camping at the Big Country Campground, and golfing; there is much more that she loved to do as well. Virginia is survived by one son, Rodney Wilson of Brookville, PA; One sister, Shirley (Gerald) Doverspike of Waterloo, NY; Three brothers, John (Judy) Mills of New Bethlehem, PA; William (Hazel) Mills of White Plains, MD; and Larry (Lillian) Mills of Waterloo, NY; One brother-in-law, Gerry Shaffer of Richardsville, PA; Five grandchildren; Matthew Wilson of Brookville, PA; Jason (Chelsea) Wilson of New Bethlehem, PA; Harley (Stephanie) Wilson of Hazen, PA; Angela Ryna (Eric) Shaffer of DuBois, PA; and Craig (Kassie) Birch of Hazen, PA; and 11 great-grandchildren. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, from 2 pm - 8 pm, at the McKinney - d'Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2016, also at the McKinney - d'Argy Funeral Home, beginning at 11:00 am, and officiated by the Rev. Robert Goodnough. Interment will take place at the Butler Cemetery, Pine Creek Twp., Jefferson Co., PA. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Hahne Cancer Center, 100 Hospital Ave., DuBois, PA, 15801.
