Virginia (Pensa) Della Bernarda, 93, of Forestville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 25, 2016. She was the wife of the late Mario Della Bernarda who passed in 2001. Virginia was born on February 28, 1923 in Traona, Italy a daughter of the late Santino Pensa and Carmella (Marchetti) Pensa and came to Bristol in 1946. She had worked for 21 years as an assembler with Superior Electric retiring in 1985. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of St. Matthew Church and their Ladies Guild and was a member of the Bristol Senior Center. She leaves her children, Peter Della Bernarda and his wife Deborah of Berlin and Tina Della Bernarda of Forestville; a grandson, Brian Della Bernarda and his wife Stephanie of East Hampton; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Attillo, Cirillo and Enrico Pensa and by a sister, Santina Pensa Gaggini. Virginia's funeral will be held on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. from O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Forestville (Bristol) and will proceed to St. Matthew Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Committal service and interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Calling hours will be held on Thursday between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Matthew Church, 120 Church Ave., Forestville, 06010.
