On February 2, 1957, Veronica Maxine Rutledge was born to Bessie "Mary Ann" R.Kemp (Willie D. Kemp, Sir., deceased) and the late Jonathan "Fred" Jones. She was educated at B.C. Hill, Parker High, Ensley High, and graduated from Charles B. Glenn High School. From there she went on to Alabama State Universit. She enjoyed her employment with Regions Bank until she resigned due to her health. For the last 19 years she attented The Maple Grove Church of God where she wore many hats. She was on the Usher Board, a choir membe, and always helped with the youth and whatever else she could. She loved her Maple Grove Church of God family!
she leaves to cherish her memories: mother, Bessie "Mary Ann" Kemp; her devoted and loving husband, Andrew McHoward; five childre, Kerry Rutledge, Algene (Michael Sanders, Venus (Marcus) White, Andrew (Deontreniese) McHoward and Iris Looney; twelve grandchildren she truly loved, O'Conner Ward, Jabari McHoward, Taelor White, Kennedi Sanders, Kassidi Rutledge, JaMarkus White, Michael Sanders, Madison White, Siri and Samiyah Dennis, Kal-el and ski Rutledge.
Veronica was blessed to have eleven siblings, two preceded her in death, La Voyia Miller and Tracey Looney. She leaves four sisters, Theo (David) Wright of California, Debra (Randy) Peck of New York, Bridget Jones of Birmingha, and Alesha Mahon of Detroit; and five brothers, Micah (Andrea) Kemp, Kevin Jones, and Christoper (Sharon) Jones of Birmingha, Tyrone Jones and Joey Jones of Detroit.
She has two nieces, Reka and Veronica "Shae" Kemp, that she helped raise as her own after the passing of her beloved sister.
She also leaves an aunt, Gwen (Meredith) Payne, who was raised like a sister; two sister-in-law, Catherine "Doris" (Le'Vaughn) of Chicago and Loretta (Kerry) of Birmingham; three brothers-in-law, Herbert McHoward of Chicago, Eddie McHoward and Robert (Brenda) McHoward of Birmingham; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
