We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Vernita Aikens-Driver, who was born on August 2, 1951, and peacefully passed away on December 30, 2024, in Gary, Indiana, United States. She was the beloved daughter of Leotis and Mary Aikens.

Vernita is survived by her partner, Charles Carter Sr, and their loving son, Charles Carter Jr (Chan). She was also a cherished grandmother to her grandchild.

Vernita attended Emerson High School, where she graduated in 1969. She was a dedicated student and excelled in her studies.

Throughout her life, Vernita enjoyed hobbies such as listening to music, playing board games, reading her Bible, and serving the Lord. She was a faithful and devoted Christian who found peace and solace in her faith.

On December 30, 2024, Vernita passed away due to natural causes. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
