YOUNGSTOWN — Verna 'Marty' Marthelle Kratzer, 93, of Youngstown, formerly of Lima, passed away on Sunday November 6, 2016, at Omni Manor Nursing Home in Youngstown.
She was born on August 22, 1923 in McComb, Ohio, to George Leslie and Edna (Williams) Long, who preceded her in death. She married Serge Leroy Kratzer, and he preceded her in death on October 27, 1972. Verna was a lifetime member of Lima's Post #1275 VFW.
Verna is survived by her children Terry (Cheryl) Kratzer, of Warren, OH, Sue Williams, of Lima, Kay Ann Kratzer, of Lima, Robin (Rob) Lee Schindler, of Lima, Kevin Kratzer, of Girard, OH, sixteen grandchildren, and thirty-four great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her granddaughter Kimberly Kratzer.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday November 9, 2016 at 2 PM at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, with Pastor Tod Cosart officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral from 12 to 2 PM. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post #1275.
