Vera B. Mahar of Millerton, Pa., passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, Nov. 28, 2016 at the age of 90. She was born on July 29, 1926 in Laquin, Pa., a daughter of the late Clyde Rutty and Mae Case. Vera is predeceased by her husbands, David R. Austin and Ralph C. Mahar; sons, Dennis H. Austin, and William "Bill" R. Austin; brothers, Rocky, Danny, Emmy; and sister, Marcella. She is survived by her children, Gerald L. Austin, Sharon A. Smith, Vernon "Butch" (Shirley) Austin, Charlene M. (John) Ketter; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Rosie Packard, Beverly Allen, Lucy Sullivan and Jane (Ed) Moore; and many extended family members. She enjoyed time spent with her family around the holidays and loved her flower garden, cooking and canning. It was Vera's wishes that all services be held at convenience of the family at the Grover Cemetery in Grover, Pa.
