Velma Watson Welsh, 102, of El Centro, CA passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2016. Velma was born on September 6, 2016 in McKamie, Arkansas. She was a long time resident of El Centro. She was also a lifetime member of the senior club and a founding member of True Light Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Jesse Welsh. She is survived by her two sisters, Mary Reynolds (Gerald) of Tulsa, OK and Florida Jackson of Pasadena, CA; her adopted daughter Donna Fontenot of Sacramento, CA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 8 a.m. and service at 10 a.m. with Pastor Avery Dees of True Light Missionary Baptist Church officiating at Second Baptist Church, 187 W. Brighton Ave, El Centro. Burial will immediately follow at 12 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro, CA. After burial repast will take place at the First Baptist Church, 724 Orange Ave. in El Centro, CA.
