Valerie M. Edwards1927 - 2014Valerie M. Edwards, 87, of Kenosha passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2014, surrounded by her family at her home.She was born on March 27, 1927, in Red Hill Farm, Bellahill, Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland, she was the daughter of the late James and Maggie (McDowell) McMurtry. She was educated in the schools of Northern Ireland. On April 7, 1953, she married Eugene F. Edwards at the 1st Presbyterian Church in Northern Ireland. She was employed as a secretary at John Walker LTD in London, England, and St. Catherines Hospital in payroll for many years. She was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Kenosha. Her hobbies included dancing, puzzles, traveling and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.Survivors include her children, Michael (Sarah) Edwards of Oak Creek, Katherine Edwards and Janice Edwards both of Kenosha; a sister, Maureen Manterola of Zumaya Guipuzcoa, Spain; five grandchildren, Breanne (Paul) McGuire, Kaylin, James, and Celina Edwards, and Rolando (Veronica) Acosta; and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, a brother, James McMurtry, and sisters, Bette McCullough and Silvia Esdale.Funeral services were private at Valeries request.
