Valerie Hernandez, 49, of Carlsbad, California, passed Sunday, February 03, 2019. Valerie was born to Manuel and Lydia Hernandez, April 28, 1969 in Carlsbad, California.  She is the youngest of 4 siblings, Teresa Higgins and Richard Hernandez are still living, while her brother, Vincent Hernandez passed away at the age of 42.

Valerie graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1982 and later received an AA degree in Business Administration from Mira Costa College in Oceanside California. Valerie worked for several years in retail.  She moved to Encinitas, California for a short time with her cousin, Marleen.  She then moved back home  with her mother, in Carlsbad.

Valerie had two different strokes at a young age in her thirties.  Her mother was her caretaker and they were inseparable.  Valerie loved her cats, Chico and Chica, she loved to shop, eat out, and sit quietly while watching T.V. with her mom.   In 2017 she fell in the shower and was found unconscious.  Valerie never fully recovered and was in and out of hospitals and nursing facilities until she came home to be taken care of by caretaker and niece Vanessa.  Mom was always watching over her.  She passed away peacefully at home with her mom, brother Richard and nephew Anthony by her side.

She is preceded in death by her father, Manuel Hernandez, brother Vincent Hernandez and niece Monica Ramirez.  

Her services will be held on Wednesday, Feb 13th at St. Patricks Church in Carlsbad, Ca.  It will begin with a viewing from 10:00-10:30, followed by a Rosary and mass at 11:00.  A reception will follow at her mother, Lydia's home in Carlsbad.
