Trae Cameron Oyler Obituary

Nov 28, 1995 - Jan 26, 2016

This obituary is administered by:
Trae Cameron Oyler was born on November 28, 1995 to Kenny and Jane Oyler. Trae had a passion for travel and on October 26, 2016 he took his final trip home to Heaven, just one month shy of his 21st birthday.Trae was born in Waynesboro, PA, where he lived until he was 17. At the age of 16, Trae gave his life over to the Lord and chose to live for Him. Trae followed Christ's example and was baptized in July of 2012. In August of 2013, Trae was unsettled about where God was calling him. After spending time searching out God's will for his life, he moved to California for his senior year of high school. Trae spent two and a half years in California before moving home to Waynesboro to continue his search for where God wanted Him to serve. Having a heart for sharing Jesus with the world, Trae felt God calling him to ACTS in Tieton, Washington, a 4-month discipleship sabbatical for young adults. At ACTS (Antioch Christian Training School), through intensive teaching, prayer, and outreach to the community, Trae learned to love the Lord to a deeper extent. He was so excited to be going to Thailand as the final phase of the program to share Jesus with the lost and to seek out God's will for his future. One of Trae's greatest passions was children and teaching them about Jesus which is what he was doing before God called him home. Trae was traveling back to ACTS following an evening of working with kids at Madison Community Youth Center when he was shot and killed. Trae, as a child and even into adulthood, had a heart of compassion. He would cry when his siblings cried and when his mom cried, he would hug her and tell her "It will all be OK. We can get through this." He was quick to reach out and encourage others. He was a listener, a counselor, and an empathetic friend to all. He felt the pain and trials of others deeply. He loved so well, unconditionally and without reservations. Trae loved Jesus, his family, and his friends with a passion. He also loved dogs (of all kinds) and coffee. He collected forks from events he attended (birthdays, weddings, etc.) and we surely think he kept his forks because, like with dessert, the BEST is yet to come. If only he could tell us about it!He will be greatly missed by dad, mom, a brother Milo and his wife, Carrie, two sisters, Kala (Benedict) and her husband Aaron, and Kaci (Garber) and her husband Lowell, nieces and nephews – Graham & Damaris Oyler and Sophie & Cooper Benedict – whom he loved so much, grandparents Ken and Lenora Oyler, great-grandparents Kenneth & Dortha Oyler, and his "angel families" – Ben & Debbie Eller and family, Matt & Anne Long and family, Marlin & Cindy Bauman and family, and Dave & Brenda Perry. He was preceded in death by grandparents Elwood & Orpha Gipe. There was a memorial service in Zillah, WA on Sunday, October 30th @10:30AM for Trae's West Coast family. His body was then transported to PA where there will be a viewing and funeral. The visitation and funeral will be held at the Antrim Brethren in Christ Church located at 24 Kauffman Road East, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Everyone is invited to the visitation, which will be from 12:30 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Friday, November 4th, and the funeral, which will start at 9:30 A.M. on November 5th. Burial will follow the service, and will be at the Mount Zion Cemetery near Quincy, PA. A meal will be served at the church following the burial to which all are also invited. Please come and share with us in a celebration of Trae's life. Trae's message to all of us would be to love people, share Jesus, and remember that there is always hope, and to GET UP AND GO!2 Tim 4:7 & 8, ~ "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing."Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro is handling the local arrangements.
