On April 20, 2025, the world lost a true legend with the passing of Tommie Ellis. Born on November 25, 1952, in Cleveland, Ohio, Tommie was a beloved father, partner, and friend.
Tommie was the son of Tommie Ellis and the loving partner of Joan Townsend. Together, they raised six children: Tommie, Donald, Terrence, Jasmine, Lavelle, and Ashley. Their family was the center of Tommie's world, and he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones.
After graduating from East Tech High School in 1969, Tommie pursued a career as a fisherman, becoming known as Big Tommie for his exceptional skills on the water. His passion for fishing was unmatched, and he spent countless hours teaching his children and grandchildren the art of the sport.
Outside of his work, Tommie had a love for hobbies like cornhole, horseshoes, and spending time outdoors. He had a competitive spirit and always sought out new challenges to conquer.
Tragically, Tommie's life was cut short by brain cancer, a battle he fought with courage and grace until the very end. His memory will live on through his children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Though Tommie Ellis may no longer be with us, his legacy will endure forever in the hearts of those who loved him. Rest in peace, Big Tommie.
