Timothy James RyanRoanoke, VATimothy James Ryan, 69, of Roanoke, Virginia passed away on Monday, May 8, 2017 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 6, 1948 in Plattsburgh, New York to James Robert Ryan and Gloria Bessette. He did two tours in Vietnam, one in country at the Danang Hospital and a tour on the USS Oriskany.Following his Navy career, he spent the rest of his career in the medical field. He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Ryan; children, Michael, Katie and Jordan and Sharri Maynard; grandchildren, Mikayla, Michael, Carlee, Thomas and Ryan; brothers, Thomas John and his wife, Dee, Terry Joe and his wife, Marilyn; niece, Erin and nephews, Owen and Stephen as well as many cousins. He loved his family, friends, country and every aspect of life with an unbridled passion and energy. A military memorial service will be held on 1 p.m., Friday, May 12, at Southwest Virginia Veteran's Cemetery in Dublin.
