Thomas William YoungZANESVILLE: Thomas William Young, 74, of Zanesville, died at 5:02 P.M. on Friday, December 12, 2014 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. Tom was born on August 25, 1940 in Zanesville a son of the late Charles T. and Clara Belle Mauller Young. He graduated from Maysville High School in 1958 where he excelled in basketball and baseball. He was elected to the MHS Athletic Hall of Fame. Tom played professional baseball in the Los Angeles Dodger farm system from 1958 to 1963. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local, attended Ohio University and was employed by Putnam Transfer. Surviving are his wife of 42 years Michele Kearney Young; four children, Natalie (Matt) Dietrich, Shelly (Jerry) May, Dustin (Sara) Young and Katie Young; six grandchildren, Brittany May, Whitney Herron, Courtney (Angelo) Catani, Kyra and Kaleb Young and Connor Young; two great grandsons, Kase Inniss and Ace Angelo Catani (due in March); a brother, Larry (Pamela) Young; a sister Lynne (Norm) Brooks and several nieces and nephews.Friends and family may call from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, where the funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, December 19, 2014 with Rev. Joy French officiating. Tom will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Zanesville, OH.
