BARDSTOWNThomas P. Richie, 77, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017 at his residence. He was born on August 7, 1939 in Louisville to the late Thomas and Bernice Wellenbrock Richie. Thomas was a graduate of Flaget High School, a member of the University of Louisville's Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, the Nelson County Horticulture Society and Flaget Alumni Association. He will be remembered for his stories, zest for life, love of nature, animals, friends and most of all the unconditional love for his daughters.Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Patty Thompson Richie and a sister Mary Catherine Estes.He is survived by 4 daughters, Barbara Blackstone of Bardstown, Deborah Richie-Bray of California, Teresa Stine of Bardstown and Rosemary Watson-Jones of Louisville, 2 brothers, Louis Richie of Covington and Mark Richie of Louisville. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, August 4, 2017at 11:00am at Basilica of St. Joseph Proto Cathedral with interment in Calvary Cemetery, Louisville. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00-8:00pm with an evening prayer service and from 8:30-9:30am Friday at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road who is in charge of arrangements. The family request that donations go to Bernheim Forest.
