Thomas Andrew Warren, Jr.Asheville - Thomas Andrew Warren Jr. (Andy) of Asheville passed away July 26th, 2017. After many years in Savannah, GA and Charleston, SC, Andy had returned to his roots in Asheville, NC. Andy was born on March 13th, 1950 to Tom "Slick" Warren and Ann Edmonds Warren in Asheville. He graduated from Whiteville HS and matriculated to UNC-Chapel Hill where he graduated class of '72 with a degree in Political Science. Andy left college a shaggy-haired hippie with a passion for Tar Heel basketball, a discerning ear for great music and a gift for poetic prose. He owned his own construction business for many years but is best known for coaching youth basketball, planning mountain golf trips with the guys, and always working hard to provide for his family.He is survived by his mother Ann Warren, his sister Sandy Warren, Dede Warren and his three children: Thomas Warren (Kendra), B.V. Messervy (Daniel) and Drew Warren (Carin). He will always be "Poppy" to his three granddaughters: Kennedy, Quinn and Wren.The funeral service will be Saturday, August 5th at 11 am at St. John's Episcopal Church 290 Old Haw Creek Road, Asheville. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
