Theresa Garcia Murphy, 89 of Salinas California passed away on April 21, 2015 at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. She was born in Ripon California on November 25, 1925. 

She started her life in the beautiful San Joaquin Valley that she loved so dearly. She was fond of driving by the many ranches and dairies while enjoying the valley smells. She later moved to Monterey and met her true love David Howard Murphy, a truck driver from Bloomington, Indiana. Together they were blessed with a wonderful family of a son and two daughters. They worked together and bought Tullos Van and Storage, Monterey Peninsula Movers, North County Movers, and Murphy's Movers. They were so proud of their family and hard work.

She was very proud of her Portuguese Heritage. She remembered as a child, after her father had passed how the ladies of the S.P.R.S.I. (Sociedade Portuguese Rainha Santa Isabel) helped her family. In 1990-1991 she became the Grand President of the S.P.R.S.I. She was an active member of Brotherhood of Saint Anthony and P.F.S.A. (Portuguese Fraternal Society of America).

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Howard Murphy, and her daughter Nancy Sue Murphy Woods. She is survived by her son Paul (Helen) Anthony Murphy, her daughter Dorothy (Jerry) Blakeman, son-in-law Clifford John Woods, sisters Theodora Garcia and Lina Vierra, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
