Thelma G. Forthofer-Barnes (nee Snider), age 89, entered into rest Tuesday, November 15, 2016. She was born on June 30, 1927 In North Ridgeville, Ohio. and resided in Avon her married life. She worked as a secretary at Ridge Tool & Oliver G. Forthofer Builder Contractor. She was a past President of the Holy Trinity Ladies Guild, life member of both the Avon VFW, and the Tarpon Springs Moose Club in Florida. Thelma enjoyed travelling, crocheting, knitting, playing cards, bingo, gardening and the outdoors. She made her winter home in Florida, and spent her summers in Michigan and Canada.Thelma was an avid local sports fan and enjoyed watching her children play sports. She is survived by her husband James E. Barnes (ret. Capt. NRFD) children Donna (John dec-d) Meese, Dr. David (Marie) Forthofer, and Timothy (Maureen) Forthofer, grandchildren Darin, Dean, Seth, Sara (Loren), Amy (Bryan) and Kathleen (Matt), and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband Oliver G. Forthofer, grandchildren Brian & Lorie, parents John & Gertrude (nee Frank) Snider, sisters Loretta Vencel, Ruth Fritz, Gertrude Dietz, brother Fred Snider, and step-sister Clara Bacher. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday November 19, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church , Avon. Interment will follow at the Holy Trinity Cemetery, Detroit Rd., Avon. Memorial contributions may be made to the Miller Nature Preserve, Lorain County Metro Parks, 2739 Center Rd. Avon, Ohio 44011. The MISENCIK FUNERAL HOME, Avon, is in charge of arrangements.
