It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Tavonie Daquwan Jackson Sr., affectionately known as “Lil Sky,” who departed this life unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the young age of 21 in Muskegon, Michigan.
Tavonie was born on December 31, 2003, in Muskegon, Michigan, to the late Johnny Taylor and Renitta Sanders. He was a proud graduate of Mona Shores High School, where he was known for his energy, determination, and love for sports—especially basketball and football, where he played under the guidance of his brother Shane.
Beyond sports, Tavonie had a strong passion for music and was known to light up any room with his freestyles and vibrant personality. He enjoyed rapping, playing video games, and spending cherished time with his son, family, and close friends. His laughter and presence were a source of comfort and joy to those around him.
Tavonie leaves to celebrate his memory his beloved son, Tavonie D. Jackson Jr.; his adopted mother and aunt, Dorothea Jackson; five brothers: Olden Pennington, Antjuan Pennington, JayQuaun Hudson, Kajuantae Pennington, and Maurice Stephens; three sisters: Sequoyah Pennington, Leslie Young, and Kenisha Stephens; his close friends: Jaquantae Rowe, Jamarius Gardner, Gamaliel Watson, and Emarrion Walker; his loving grandmother, Carolyn Walker; and his special friend, Nia’jah Smith. He is also remembered fondly by a large extended family including nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and lifelong friends.
He is reunited in peace with his mother and father, Renitta Sanders and Johnny Taylor; his grandparents, Willie Sanders, Edith Jackson, Alfonzo Jackson, and Bubblee Taylor; his brother, Giovonnie Sanders; and his son, Da’Montae Smith.
A Celebration of Life for Tavonie will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Church of the Living God Muskegon, located at 4249 Quarterline Rd, Muskegon, MI 49444, with Pastor Andre L. Williams Jr. officiating. Visitation will take place two hours prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for memorial contributions to support his surviving family and young son.
Tavonie will be remembered for his light, his laughter, and the love he had for his family. He leaves a legacy of strength, loyalty, and unshakable spirit that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
