It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tarus Cooper, beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Born on January 4, 1973, Tarus lived a full and vibrant life in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
Tarus, known for his quick wit and infectious laughter, was the son of Step Father/Clarence Rush and Sadie Rush. He was the loving husband of Celestine Tillary, whom he married in the year 20. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Deon Tillery, Anthony Tillery, and Gary Tillery.
After graduating from SW. Edgecomb High school in 1985, Tarus dedicated his career to A1 Brick Mason, where he worked tirelessly until his well-deserved retirement in 2010. Outside of work, Tarus was actively involved in the Operation Nieva Church organization, where he offered his time and skills to those in need.
When he wasn't busy with work and community service, Tarus enjoyed his hobbies of meeting new people, playing basketball, and shopping for the latest trends. His presence always lit up a room and his jokes never failed to bring a smile to those around him.
Tarus leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, as well as ten adoring grandchildren. While his time with us may have come to an end on January 25, 2026, the memories of his joyous spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
