This obituary is administered by:

“Onward and Upward”

Susan Jean Hitchcock Mellor, 80, of Fayette, UT passed away on January 13, 2020 at 9:28 p.m. in Orem, UT. She was born on September 10, 1939 in Mason City, Iowa, to Orvel "Pete" Ingle and Dorothy Claire Ingle. At age 19, she married Mr. Wayne Norman Pastour on March 7, 1959 in Dows, Iowa. Wayne passed away from cancer on May 29, 1961. Soon after, she met and fell in love with Dr. Hubert Arthur Hitchcock, as they both attended Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa. On August 26, 1962, she and Hubert married in Rock Island, Illinois. They relocated to Powder Springs, Georgia, where they created a full life and family together. They attended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Dallas, Georgia. Susan was a dedicated and active member of the church till she passed. Hubert passed away on January 9, 1996. A few years later Susan relocated to Utah where she met and married Roger Mellor, of Utah, on November 25, 2000 in Manti, Utah. Roger passed away on October 30, 2018.

Susan is survived by her six children: Ginger Davenport, Paul Hitchcock, Peter Hitchcock, & Preston Hitchcock of Dallas, GA, Parris Hitchcock of Aragon, GA, and Julie Schoonover of Fayette, UT, 13 grandchildren: Marlene Fletcher, Shannon Mancil, Daimon Davenport, "Little" Paul Hitchcock, Jacqueline Dukes, Ansley Stanton, Hanna Hitchcock, Dakota Hitchcock, Kristin Worthen, Emilee Bair, Kendal Hitchcock, Cade Schoonover, and Waylon Hitchcock, 17 great-grandchildren, and two sisters: Sandra Wilson and Samantha Ingle. Her brother, Thomas Eric Ingle, precedes her in death.

Susan's love and dedication to the Lord is what made her one of a kind.  She lived her life as pure as a person could and carried herself as if she were in the presence of God every day. Her children describe her as "a saint." Her faith was always steady and strong. She could find the ‘good’ in any situation or circumstance. Her most famous quote was, "Onward and Upward!" If times were tough, she could change your mood instantly with those three words. She will be missed tremendously.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2020, 3:00pm, at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta, GA. Everyone is welcome to attend.
