It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Steve Hurt, who left us suddenly on Thursday July 2, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on June 30, 1944, in Bluefield, West Virginia. Steve was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was the son of Steve Hurt and Marie Hurt, who instilled in him strong values and a deep sense of family.

Steve married his devoted wife, Cheryl Hurt, in 1962. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Their union blossomed into a family, blessed with three children: Steve Hurt, who is married to Greta Cannon; Gina Hurt, who is married to Fredrick Walton; and Gail Hurt, who is married to Roger Blackstone. Steve found immense joy in being a father and later as a grandfather to three precious grandchildren Asia Hurt, Steven Hurt and Amber Hurt, who were the light of his life.

A dedicated learner, Steve attended Mercer County School, where he completed his high school education. He later became a significant figure in his community, working for Hurt Realty Company, where he dedicated many years to helping others find their homes. His commitment to his work and his clients established him as a trusted and respected member of the real estate industry.

Steve was known for his warm smile, generosity, and unwavering support for his family and friends. He took great pride in sharing his knowledge and skills with those around him, always willing to lend a helping hand. His love for his family was evident in everything he did, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. A celebration of Steve's life will be held on July 11, 2026. Allowing friends and family to gather and honor the remarkable man he was. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Steve's memory to a charity of your choice.
