He married Michelle Heckman on June 15, 1991 in Redding, CA. He was a Correctional Officer at Calipatria State Prison since 1994. He was employee of the month in November 2005. He also received The Corrections Gold Star Medal of Valor in February 2007. He is survived by his wife, Michelle Heckman; son Steven (Marcela) Heckman of Chico, CA; daughter, Carissa Heckman of El Centro, CA; parents, Paul and Jean Heckman of Anderson, CA; brother, John (Kelly) Heckman; niece and nephew, Katie and Justin of El Dorado Hills, CA.
