Stella Borek 1927 - 2016ORISKANY/N. UTICA - Stella Borek, 88, a lifelong area resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 14, 2016, at the Eastern Star Home. She had the comfort of her loving family by her side.She was born on December 24, 1927, the daughter of the late Edward and Victoria Pasciak Barron. Stella was raised and educated in Clinton. On July 14, 1951, she married Chester Borek, a loving union until his passing on January 29, 1990. She also worked for over thirty years for the Sitrue Corporation, Mohawk Containers and General Electric.Before moving to the Eastern Star Home, she lived in North Utica and was a parishioner of St. Peter's Church.Her survivors include her son and daughter, Wayne Borek and his wife, Elaine, of Malta, NY, and Patricia Grotevant and her husband, William, of Sandwich, MA; a sister, Gladys Stanley, of Sydney, NY; three grandsons, Greg Grotevant, of Sutton, MA, Kyle Grotevant, of Mashpee, MA, and Alex Grotevant, of Redwood City, CA; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers and five sisters, Leo Barron, Lou Barron Stanley Barron, Joanne Hill, Helen Brodsky, Julia Wenzel, Nellie Noti and Mary Snyder.Stella's family would like to express their sincere appreciation and heartfelt thank you to the entire staff of the Eastern Star Home for the compassion, care, support and friendship provided to Stella over the past two and a half years. The family would also like to extend a special thank you and is deeply indebted to Jan and Ed Van Dyke for their support and love.Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Kowalczyk Funeral Home, 284 Main St., New York Mills. Those that wish may call one hour prior to the service.
