Stanton's early years at home was filled with a lot of love and music. His mother Louvenia allowed him to play music in the house. Stanton attended Sterling Senior High School and was in the marching and stage band. After graduation from high school, he attended TSU to study Music Theory. In his Music Theory class, he was given the opportunity to join his classmate's group called F.A.W. which was his first opportunity to be in a band. After college Stanton attended pipefitting school and became a Journeyman. While he was working as Journeyman, he started his own group called "Something Unique." His band played in the Houston area various clubs. Later in life Stanton had a few endeavors in life which included buying properties and building homes. Towards the end of his he was unfortunately diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease which he eventually succumbs to.
