She was born on March 8, 1929 to Alex and Panagota Katsilometes, Raised in a large Greek family, she was one of eight siblings. She attended school in Pocatello, graduating from Pocatello High in 1947. She worked as an underwriter for Farmers Insurance, then as a medical transcriptionist starting at St. Anthony Hospital and later for Bannock Regional Medical Center where she was recognized for 35 years of service. She enjoyed her career at Bannock and met many life long friends. After retiring from Bannock Sophie continued to transcribe for a number of years for local physicians. Sophie met the love of her life, Gust A. Beseris, in 1952. They wed on June 26, 1955 at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Pocatello. Sophie loved her church, of which her father was an original founder, and was eagerly anticipating the completion of the recent renovations. Spending time at Koukla's house was always a favorite pastime and there are many cherished memories that we will not forget.
