Shelby Norwood, Jr. was born on September 10, 1939 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. He was the second son born to Nina and Shelby Norwood. Shelby accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He attended Crystal Springs High School where he graduated in 1957. He continued his studies in Carpentry and mechanics. 

In 1955, he married Shirley Norwood. In September 2002, he retired from the Tyson industry after 25 years of service. During that time, he received many rewards and certificates for his outstanding services. He was a devoted father, son, brother and uncle. He enjoyed spending time with family, traveling and helping other people. He will be missed by all who knew him. 

Shelby leaves to cherish his memory a loving daughter, Sabrina Norwood; son, Donell Norwood; sister, Patricia Ford; grandson; Kevis Norwood, granddaughter; Valencia Norwood; many nieces and nephews; and a host of beloved relatives and friends.
