Shavon Black, age 40, passed away on January 14, 2026, in Richmond, Virginia. Born on September 16, 1985, in Baltimore, Maryland, Shavon brought light, laughter, and love wherever she went.
A graduate of Lake Clifton High School, she followed her passion for beauty and creativity as a hairstylist and proud salon owner, where she uplifted spirits as much as she styled hair. Shavon had an infectious laugh, a vibrant personality, and a gift for making others feel comforted and seen.
She also found joy in writing poetry, expressing her heart through words that touched many lives.
Shavon is lovingly remembered by her parents, Shermain Tapp and James Black. Her siblings, Sherronnie Black-Turner, Sharon Black, Stanley Black, and Jarod Black, along with a host of family and friends. Her memory will live on through the laughter she shared and the love she gave. She will be truly missed.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on January 19, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at March Funeral Homes, East.
