Severo Martinez, 80, of Slaton, Texas, passed away on August 6, 2025, in his hometown. Born on May 12, 1945, in Slaton, Severo spent his life deeply rooted in the community where he was born and raised.
A devoted father and proud patriarch, Severo leaves behind his daughters Angelica Martinez and Cynthia Martinez, both of Lubbock, and Rebecca Hernandez of Slaton. His legacy continues through his eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, as well as many others who were touched by his presence and strength.
Severo came from a large family and was known as the backbone of his own. His love for the outdoors was matched only by his unwavering loyalty to the Dallas Cowboys—he was a die-hard fan through and through. Whether tending to his yard or simply being present for those he loved, Severo brought warmth and strength wherever he went.
To those who knew him best, Severo was more than just a father or grandfather—he was “Gramps,” whose entrance into any room brought joy and comfort. His presence was unmistakable and unforgettable.
Severo has gone to be with our Lord and Savior. He will truly be missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. May his memory bring comfort to those who carry him in their hearts.
