Severiano (known to his family and friends as "Ricky") passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2012. He was born on September 23,1963at Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa, California to Severiano and Doris Castro. He lived most of his life in San Diego, attending both Clairemont and Mission Bay High Schools. He finished his education by earning a graduate degree in Gemology at the International Gemological Institute in Antwerp, Belgium. He then returned to the United States to start his own business as a diamond and gemstone dealer and jewelry designer. Ricky loved traveling and surfing and being with friends and family. His battle with cancer came to a peaceful end…and for that we are grateful to God and to San Diego Hospice, as well as to Dr. Tony Reid and the wonderful physicians and staff at the Moores Cancer Center at UCSD. He will be greatly missed by his survivors: his father, Severiano; his sister, Donna Riley, and her family; and many cousins, aunts, and uncles in the Yuma and Phoenix area.
