Sean Michael Tate, 50, of Independence, MO passed away on Thursday, November 7th, 2024, in Lenexa Kansas. He was born on April 15, 1974, in Smithville MO.

Sean worked for Wilson's Floor Covering for the past 3 years. He was a carpet installer with over 30 years’ experience and always took great pride in his work. Sean graduated from Lee Summit High School in 1993, where he enjoyed playing many sports including track field.

Sean was a big adventurer; he was always open to trying something new, that he thought sounded fun, especially outdoors. He loved riding 4-wheelers, hunting, boating and especially fishing. He had a pole for every occasion and would have fished every day if he could.

Sean also enjoyed going to thrift stores, garage sales, and antique stores. He loved classic/hard rock music and watching movies. He loved everything Sci-Fi, especially anything to do with UFO's and Big Foot. He loved family BBQ's, lots of good food and a never-ending cup of coffee. 

Sean's true passion was his family. Being with those he loved was everything to him. Whether at home, during the holidays or family vacations, his happiest moments were spent with his significant other, his kids, grandkids and his father in the hills of the Ozarks.

Survivors include son, Sean “Jake” (April) and granddaughters Emma Tate of Niangua MO, Kylie Hensen of Springfield, MO; grandson Matthew Hensen, Springfield, MO; son, Xavier (Cheyenne) Tate and grandsons, Alaric and Keander Tate of Independence MO, son, Jeremy (Hailey) Platt of Independence MO, son, Jason (Ashleigh) Platt and grandson Phynix Platt of Pleasant Hill, MO; father Kenneth “Mike” Tate of Edwards MO; sister, Hidi Tate of Blue Springs, MO; brothers, Tim Tate of Edwards MO and Shannon (Linda) Tate Edwards, MO; his significant other, Janet Benedict of Country Club MO; along with an uncle and several cousins, nephews and a niece. He was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda Tate in 2021, his grandparents and an uncle.
