Trustee Scottie Thompson was born on June 19, 1967 in Newark, N] to the late
Jacob and Cleo Yarborough Thompson. He was the sixth child of eight
children. He departed his life suddenly on Thursday November 10, 2022 at
UMDN] Hospital.
Scottie was educated through the Newark Public Schools system and received
his High School diploma in June of 1985. Scottie was employed with Newark
Public Schools as a Stock Clerk/ Janitor for ten years. Scottie resigned from his
position and was trained through the apprenticeship program and gained
employment with local 3, mastering the many skills of his trade such as
carpentry, electrical, plumbing, building walls and floors, and many other trades.
Scottie's knowledge, professionalism and good work ethic enabled him to do
side jobs for many individuals. He retired in 2017 due to a work related injury.
On June 26, 1992, Trustee Scottie married his grammar school crush, Sister
Henrietta Williamson-Thompson, who in his eves was the most beautirul
woman in the world. They had 30 years of love and friendship. Born in their
union were eight beautiful children. As their legacy continued along came seven
grandchildren. Trustee Scottie and Sister Henrietta joined the Mother's
Foundation Holiness Church, under the leadership of the late Pastor Ana
Cooper. She went on to be with the Lord in 2014, and they continued their
membership with the current pastor, Shirley Polite. He enjoyed joking with the
pastor and congregation.
Trustee Scottie loved his family and would talk about the memories of traveling
down south and taking vacations. He was a great dad, husband, and Pop-Pop as
the grandchildren call him. He loved to cook, clean, dress and wore the finest
attire. We sure can't forget his Alligator shoes. His hobbies were reading,
watching college football and CNN. He was very educated on the World's History. If you knew Scottie, you knew he
would like to tell jokes and hike on you all day long. He would talk of the phone
will his sister, Kim, for hours.
Trustee Scottie is predeceased by his parents Jacob and Cleo Yarborough
Thompson, brother Andrew Yarborough Thompson and son Corey
Thompson. He leaves to cherish his fond memories his wire Henrietta
Williamson-Thompson. His seven children Kareem, Darien (Al-Shalei) Tyree,
Azhane, Jasmine, Tamir and Deshawn. His eight grandchildren Al-Duhaaj,
Jayceon, Cameron, Samani, Cali, Armani, Ja'Ziah and Bryson. 'Three brothers
Herb, Vick (Lisa) and Jeffery. Three sisters Claudia (Gregory) Annette and Kim
And a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors (12th Street), uncles,
other relatives, friends and his Mother's Foundation Family.
