Sarah Renee Mata, 27 of San Diego passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014 as a result of a tragic motorcycle accident. She was born on October 17, 1986 to Fernando Mata and Griselda Mata. Sarah will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin and devoted mother to her two young children Izabella and Matthew Alvarado. She enjoyed spending time with her two children as one of their favorite activities was to hike up Cowles Mountain. Sarah loved being around family and friends and had a smile that would light up the room. Her energy was unparalleled as she had a passion for dancing and spontaneity. She was an avid San Diego Chargers fan. Sarah had such a loving heart, always willing to help others. Sarah worked as a medical assistant at Oncology and Hematology. She was previously a teacher's aide at Lauderbach Elementary School in Chula Vista where she will be greatly missed by staff and students. Sarah was loved and will deeply be missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother Griselda Cosio. Sarah is survived by her father, Fernando (Maria) Mata; mother, Griselda Mata; children, Izabella and Matthew Alvarado; brother and sister-in-law, Nando (Lurdez) Mata; nephew and niece, Isaac and Sophia Mata; paternal grandfather Tony (Sarah) Mata; paternal grandmother Angie Torrez; maternal grandfather Mike Cosio; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Viewing will take place Sunday, September 14, 2014 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Humphrey, 753 Boardway, Chula Vista, CA 91910. Services will proceed Monday morning September 15, 2014, 11 a.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Humphrey officiated by Pastor Carolyn Nicholas. Burial will immediately follow at Glen Abbey Cemetery, 3838 Bonita Rd, Bonita, CA 91902.
