Obituary
Mr. Sandy Ezekiel Lewis, better known as “Zeke” or “Zeke From Across The Creek”, 85, of Renan Virginia departed this life on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born on August 04, 1941, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of the late Walter and Gertrude Lewis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Wattie Lewis and Lionell Lewis and two sisters; Nancy Gilbert and Loretta Smith.
Zeke was educated in the Pittsylvania County Public School Systems. He spent most of his life farming and fishing. He was a member of the Level Run Baptist Church and will be missed for his collection of knives and being the life of any family function he attended where we often heard his favorite saying, “no more or no less, but same amount.”
Those left to cherish his memories are his son, Robert Lewis and daughter, Mary Lewis of Danville, Virginia;3 grandchildren (Cozetta Hubbard, Sophia Hall, Howard Hubbard Jr.) and 5 great grandchildren( Sarah, Teata, Larhonda) , three sisters: Wanda Davis (Joe) of Hurt, Virginia; Thelma Graves of Fieldale, Virginia and Eula Adams of Nathalie, Virginia; one brother, Irvin Lewis of Nathalie, Virginia; one uncle, Dennis Hall of Gretna, Virginia; one aunt, Margaret Edwards of Wilmington, Delaware, a devoted friend, Dwayne Moon of Renan, Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, April 6, 2025, 2:00PM at Level Run Baptist Church, Hurt, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Friends may visit at Unity on Saturday April 5, 2025 from 2-4PM for viewing.
